The map shows the share of workers with a long or short one-way commute. It includes people who traveled to work and excludes people who worked from home.
These are survey estimates for 2020–2024, not live traffic readings. A county’s percentage describes its commuting residents, not the time required for every trip through that county.
County margins of error shown here are approximate 90% ranges for a percentage, calculated from published count margins of error. They help show sampling uncertainty; rankings and county differences should not be read as statistically significant without further testing.
